Our Little “Vegetable Garden”

This little vegetable garden was a great surprise to us.

Going back to your parents house for a few vacation days feels good and relaxing, but when greeted with this cute little space is even better. My little one loved it and spend a lot of time around it.

This is all made in a few months by my father who loves gardening and he is actually very good in taking care of plants and vegetables. And although rain and hail decided to ruin this year our summer, he managed to keep themΒ on spot, sweet and tasty.

So, you can guess that we ate tomatoes, peppers and eggplants only from this little garden. Their taste was amazing, they were juicy and crispy and I made him promise more variety for next year.

Our table had on a daily basis fresh Greek salad, fried eggplants (melitzanes tiganites) and from time to time we ate Greek stuffed vegetables (gemista), which is kind of meat & vegetableΒ risotto mixture, stuffed in baked tomatoes and peppers. We also didΒ barbeque some corn too and it felt so good knowing that it was all homemade.

He planted some basil and dwarf among the tomatoes and peppers and it was just beautiful. Plus, if you put some herbs among your vegetables it helps them to bond and grow easier -that I didn`t know…

I am so inspired by all that, that I have decided to grow a few herbs on my balcony for my cooking. I hope it will succeed but since I have never done it before I should get a few tips from dad.

Enjoy, Anthea.
